The air pump switchover valve is located at the front at the right cylinder bank.

Task

The air pump switchover valve controls the left and right air aspirator shutoff valves with vacuum pressure for the purpose of air injection.

Function

The air pump switchover is actuated directly with a ground signal by the ME control unit when air injection is enabled N3/10. Here the anchor plate (a) is pulled by the electromagnet (d) and the sealing rubber (f) shuts off connection 1.

The connection between port 2 and port 3 is opened. Thus there is a vacuum built up from the intake pipe to the aspirator shutoff valves.

In the de-energized state the link again exists between connection 1 and 3 through which air is admitted at connection 3.
