Removal & Installation
NOTE:
Suction off brake fluid to "MIN" to prevent brake fluid reservoir from overflowing when pressing back piston.
NOTE:
Letters and numbers in parenthesis correspond to letters and numbers in illustrations.
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels.
- Check brake caliper for leaks and dust seal for damage. If brake caliper or dust seal is damaged, replace brake caliper.
- Remove brake hose (51) from brake line (5) and plug brake line. See BRAKE HOSES .
- Remove brake hose from caliper (31b). See Fig 1 .
- Remove brake pad contact sensor connectors and sensors from brake calipers.
- Remove brake pads. See BRAKE PADS (FRONT & REAR FIXED) .
- Remove caliper bolts (35) from wheel carrier and remove caliper.
- Installation is reverse of removal procedure. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Operate brake pedal several times until brake pads contact brake disc, a firm resistance should be noticeable. Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
NOTE:
When loosening or tightening brake line on brake hose, take care not to twist bracket. Use an open-ended wrench to counter hold at two flats on brake hose.
