Light reminder functional sequence for manually actuated standing or driving lights

  1. Basic requirement:
    • The electronic key is located in the EIS control module's (N73) starter switch.
    • The exterior lamp switch module (S1) is set to the STANDING LAMP ON"Standing lamp ON" or HEADLAMPS ON"Driving light ON"  position.
    • At instrument cluster (A1) the signals
      • "Key in starter switch",
      • "Standing lamp ON"

        and

      • "Left front door locked"

are applied by way of the databus (1).

  2. The electronic key is removed from the starter switch.
  3. The left front door is opened:
    • The rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/8) recognizes that the door is unlocked by means of the left front door contact switch (S17/3) signal and transmits a "Door open"  signal to the instrument cluster.
  4. The instrument cluster registers the change in the signal situation and trips the acoustic light warning signal with buzzer (A1h1), because the "Parking lamp ON"  signal from the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) is still present.

Light reminder functional sequence for automatically sensor controlled driving light

  1. Basic requirement:
    • The engine has stopped, terminal 61 is switched off.
    • The electronic key in the EIS control module's (N73) starter switch is in position "0"  (terminal 15C).
    • The automatic driving light switch is activated in the instrument cluster (up to 31.5.00)
    • Exterior lamp switch (S1) is set to the "Auto" position (as of 01.06.00).
    • At instrument cluster (A1) the signals
      • "Terminal 15C ON",
      • "Standing lamp ON"

        and

      • "Left front door locked"

are applied by way of the databus (1).

  2. The left front door is opened:
    • The rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/8) recognizes that the door is unlocked by means of the left front door contact switch (S17/3) signal and transmits a "Door open"  signal to the instrument cluster.
  3. The instrument cluster registers the change in the signal situation because of
    • the "Standing lamp ON"  signal from the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1)

      and

    • the "Terminal 15C ON"  signal from the EIS control module (N73)

still being present, and therefore it triggers the light warning with buzzer (A1h1).
