  1. Carefully clean ring gear bore and ring gear set on differential case.
  2. Heat ring gear (47a) to installation temperature using hot plate (080), checking temperature constantly with SPECIAL TOOL remote thermometer (070).

  3. Using SPECIAL TOOL assembly arbor (046), clamp differential case in vise.
  4. Put on suitable thermal protection gloves and mount ring gear (47a) on differential case. Apply some light hammer blows (rubber-headed hammer) if necessary.

    IMPORTANT Make sure that any markings (arrow) on ring gear (47a)and differential case line up.

  5. Tighten ribbed retaining bolts (13a) for securing the ring gear (47a) evenly and in a cross pattern.

    IMPORTANT Ribbed retaining bolts (13a) should be used once only and must always be replaced with new ones.
