OPERATION NO. OF OPERATION TEXTS OR STANDARD TEXTS AND FLAT RATES

Category Op. no. Operation text
P 465178 Replace speed-sensitive power steering valve (with steering system removed)
P 463400 Remove/install power steering
Damage code Cause Remedy
46 438 73 Electrical fault in the solenoid valve for the speed-sensitive power steering (PML) and/or the electrical connection is damaged or broken off.
IMPORTANT Speed-sensitive power steering function fails. The following fault codes could be stored in the ESP control unit:
  • C1014 Y10 (SPS [PML] solenoid valve) electrical fault
  • C1501 Y10 (SPS [PML] solenoid valve) line break or short circuit
  • C16EF Y10 (SPS [PML] solenoid valve) check
IMPORTANT Before performing any repair work, please check whether the complaint about difficult steering is caused by the speed-sensitive steering function failing (fault code stored in the PML or ESP control unit) or by insufficient power steering performance (this can occur for short time periods).
IMPORTANT Remove steering system and replace the solenoid valve as an individual part. Replacement of the entire rack-and-pinion steering system is not required.
    1 Remove rack-and-pinion steering.
