Remove/install brake shoes of parking brake - AR42.20-P-0530GH

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install     
DANGER Lethal injuries  are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
NOTES Notes on repairs to brake system   AH42.00-P-0003-01A 
1 Remove wheels    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary   AP40.10-P-4050GH
2 Remove brake disks at rear axle Vehicle with floating caliper. AR42.10-P-0220GH 
    Vehicle with fixed caliper. AR42.10-P-0220GI 
3 Pre-tension automatic cable slack adjuster   AR42.20-P-0520-01A 
4 Unhook retracting spring (111) using removal and installation tool (041) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that retracting spring (111) is seated correctly.

5 Remove retaining spring (107) and pin (106) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that retaining spring (107) is seated correctly  
6 Remove brake shoes (103) over rear axle shaft flange (68) IMPORTANT If brake shoes (103) are burnt, the brake shoes(103), retracting springs (111, 112) and retaining springs (107) and pins (106) must be replaced.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Turn back adjusting mechanism (105) and insert into both brake shoes (103) such that the adjusting wheel (c) points downwards.
 
7 Detach retracting spring (112) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that retracting spring (112) is seated correctly
Coat thread of thrust piece (104) and cylindrical part of adjusting wheel (c) with MB long-term grease.
 
    Long-life grease *BR00.45-Z-1001-06A 
8 Remove expanding lock (109) IMPORTANT Coat all bearing and sliding surfaces on the expanding lock (109) with MB long-term grease.  
    Long-life grease *BR00.45-Z-1001-06A 
9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Relieve load on automatic slack adjuster.   AR42.20-P-0520-02A 
INSPECT Inspecting     
11 Check version of pedal assembly    
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Parking brake pedal assembly modified   BT42.20-P-0510-01A
12 Adjust parking brake   AR42.20-P-0540GH
