Breaking in parking brake according to instructions - AP42.20-P-4290-01GH

Model 163

IMPORTANT The pedal locking device must not lock in position when the parking brake is operated.

  1. Drive on a dry road, initial speed approx. 50 km/h.

Press foot-operated parking brake 2 to 3 times with 100-200 N and brake vehicle to a standstill.

IMPORTANT As the stop lamps do not light up, pay particular attention to the traffic behind.

  2. Drive on a dry road at a constant speed of approx. 50 km/h. Press the foot-operated parking brake with a maximum of 100 N for 10 seconds.
  3. If the parking brake does not release satisfactorily after the test or if it pulls to one side after braking in and adjusting (maximum permissible deviation from the higher value: 50%), check brake shoes and control cables and if necessary replace.
NOTE: The German licensing regulations specify a minimum retardation of 20% for the parking brake.
The retardation is the ratio of the sum of the braking forces at the wheels to the total weight.
A deviation of 50 % from the higher value is permissible.
Observe the relevant regulations for other countries.
