General information 

Obligations Regarding Approval of Operating Fluids 

On August 1, 2008, Daimler AG introduced a 5 year time limit for MB approvals of engine oils. The "Obligations Regarding Approval of Operating Fluids" contract was therefore modified, see 13 to 15.

• New approvals for originals will be given a period of validity of 5 years starting on the date of approval.
• Reblends and rebrands are linked to the period of validity of the particular original and are therefore valid for a maximum of 5 years.
• The expiration of the MB approval for an original automatically leads to an expiration of all related reblends and rebrands.

Preservation instructions 

The preservation instructions were revised and separated into passenger car Specifications for Operating Fluids 381 and commercial vehicle Specifications for Operating Fluids 382 (new sheet)

What do the "MB BeVo" (Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids) deal with? 

These Specifications for Operating Fluids deal with the operating fluids (fuels, oils, greases, coolants, preservation agents, brake fluids, etc.) that are needed for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, Maybach vehicles, smart vehicles and Mercedes-Benz major assemblies.

The operating fluids which have been tested and approved for use are listed with their brand names. It is absolutely essential to ensure that the brand names on the containers and in the sales documents of the companies clearly and completely match the brand names specified in the Specifications for Operating Fluids. A name that differs only slightly, be it by no more than a single letter, may denote a completely different quality.

Availability of listed products: 

Cities and countries specified by the suppliers do not mean that the operating fluid is only approved in the specified country. For exactly the same brand names the approval also applies in other countries irrespective of where the approved product is produced or marketed. However, the companies listed in the individual sheets are responsible to Daimler AG that the Obligations Regarding Approval of Operating Fluids are followed worldwide.

In addition the Specifications for Operating Fluids contain important information about operating fluids which are the basis of expert advise to the customer.

Scope: 

For Mercedes-Benz vehicles the use of approved operating fluids is a fundamental part of the warranty terms. 

Where else can the MB Specifications for Operating Fluids be found? 

Due to quality changes, new product approvals and technical changes, deviations may exist between the Specifications for Operating Fluids status and the effective product approvals. The current status of the Specifications for Operating Fluids is announced in the Workshop Information System (WIS) and in the standard information system of Daimler AG (SIS).
