Remove/install instrument cluster - AR54.30-P-6015GM

REMOVING Removing     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

1 Activate service mode in Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand (emergency call system) (Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand) IMPORTANT Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid -car telephone emergency call system, 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.4.07 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid - car telephone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR

2 Move adjustable steering column downwards and extend fully    
3 Disconnect battery ground line All models except model 463.236/248 with code (979) Special protection version AR54.10-P-0003G

4 Remove cover (1) IMPORTANT Unclip at four points.  
    MPECIAL TOOL Fig 2
5 Insert the extraction hooks in the slots in the instrument cluster (A1) IMPORTANT The angled ends of the hooks must point outwards.

6 Insert extraction hooks up to the end stop IMPORTANT By slight pressure outwards hold the extraction hooks in the guides.  
7 Turn the extraction hooks IMPORTANT Turn 90° counterclockwise in the left slot and 90° clockwise in the right slot.  
8 Pull out instrument cluster (A1) using pulling hooks IMPORTANT Do not damage the dashboard or instrument cluster (A1).  
9 Release connector (2) and disconnect    
INSTALLING Install     
10 Insert connector (2) and engage    
11 Install instrument cluster (A1) IMPORTANT Press in the instrument cluster (A1) evenly. The instrument cluster (A1) must lock in place.  
12 Install covering (1)    
13 Connect ground cable to battery All models except model 463.236/248 with code (979) Special protection version AR54.10-P-0003G 
    Model 463.236/248 with code (979) Special protection version, with code (ZS6) Special protection version FB6, with code (E26) Additional battery 100 Ah incl. cutoff relay

15 Read out fault memory and erase IMPORTANT Stored faults which may be caused by removed cables or by a simulation, must be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
16 Carry out function check of instrument cluster
