	Remove/Install
	Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.	AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

2	Connect no load current retention unit		AR54.10-P-1030-07I

3	Disconnect battery ground cable	All models except 463.248 with code 979 special protection version.	AR54.10-P-0003G
		In model 463.248 with code 979 special protection version, special protection version FB6 code ZS6, special protection version FB7 code ZS7, 100 Ah additional battery incl. cutoff relay code E26.	AR54.10-P-0003PM
4	Remove right front floor covering
5	Remove right front SAM control unit with fuse and relay box	Do not unplug connectors. Installation:  Ensure the cables are correctly routed otherwise this may cause problems when installing.	AR54.21-P-1261GM
6	Remove screw (1)
7	Unscrew bolt (2).
8	Take out bracket (3)
9	Unplug connectors (4, 5)
10	Unlock connectors with a lock (6, 7, 8) and unplug them
11	Remove ME-SFI control unit (N3/10)	Pull down and out of the instrument panel. Installation:  Ensure the cables are correctly routed otherwise this may cause problems when installing.
12	Install in the reverse order
13.1	Deactivate service mode in TELE AID emergency call system	Only model 463.243/244/245/247/248/250/254/270/309/322/323/332/333 with code Tele-Aid - car telephone emergency call system ET2	AR82.95-P-0005-03GR
14	Read out fault memory and erase	STAR DIAGNOSIS Stored faults which can result from lines being disconnected or from simulation during removal and installation or test work, have to be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work	AD00.00-P-2000-04A
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		*WH58.30-Z-1048-13A
