Remove/install center instrument panel cover - AR68.10-P-3430GM

MODIFICATION NOTES

26.2.02 ESP switch OFF as of 30.9.01 (ESP introduction). Refer to Step 8  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Activate Service mode in Tele-Aid emergency call system With code ET2 TeleAid car phone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR
IMPORTANT Notes regarding the Tele-Aid emergency call system AH82.95-P-0001-01GA
2 Set selector lever to position "D"    
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

3 Disconnect battery ground cable All model except model 463.248 with code 979 Special protection version AR54.10-P-0003G
Model 463.248 with code 979 special protection version, with code ZS6 special protection version FB6, with code E26 additional battery 100 Ah incl. cutoff relay

4 Remove shift unit (differential lock control unit) (N30/2) IMPORTANT Do not unplug connectors. AR54.25-P-1080GM
5 Unscrew retaining plate (2) IMPORTANT To do this, unscrew bolt (3).  
6 Open front ashtray    
7 Remove center instrument panel cover (1) IMPORTANT First pull center instrument panel cover (1) down, then out of instrument panel at top The center instrument panel cover (1) is not screwed, only inserted
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that all retaining clips are completely present
 
8 Remove connectors from upper control panel control unit (N72/1) at rear IMPORTANT Two connectors on models 463.244/245/247/248/250/254/309/332/333 to 30.9.01.
IMPORTANT Three connectors on models 463.243/244/245/246/247/248/249/250/254/303/309/322/323/332/333/340/341 as of 30.9.01.
IMPORTANT Two connectors on model 463.248 with code 979 Special protection version.
 
9 Unlock connectors on AAC control and operating unit (N22) at rear and remove.    
10 Remove center instrument panel cover (1)    
11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Deactivate service mode in TELE AID emergency call system With code ET2 TeleAid car phone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR
IMPORTANT Notes regarding the Tele-Aid emergency call system AH82.95-P-0001-01GA
13 Read out fault memory and erase IMPORTANT STAR DIAGNOSIS
Stored faults which may be caused by removed cables or by a simulation, must be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory AD00.00-P-2000-04A
14 Perform basic programming   AR00.19-P-0200P
