IMPORTANT Alternatively the engine lifting device (1) and also the SPECIAL TOOL engine lifting device can be used.

Attach engine lifting device (1) 

  1. Mount engine lifting device (1) with its supports on the inner folds of the right and left fenders (arrows).

    NOTES Take care not to damage the paintwork on the two fenders.

  2. Lift engine by the front lifting eye.

NOTES Observe the manufacturer's assembly specifications and safety information on the SPECIAL TOOL engine lifting device (01), in order to avoid assembly faults.

  1. Mount preassembled SPECIAL TOOL engine lifting device (01) on the suspension strut towers and longitudinal members.

    NOTES When mounting the SPECIAL TOOL engine lifting device (01), ensure that in the area of the longitudinal members suspension and strut towers no lines or hoses are pinched and that the paintwork is not damaged.

    NOTES Vehicles with AIRmatic code 489: Ensure that the left and right front body lateral acceleration sensors (B24/3, B24/4) are not damaged.

  2. SPECIAL TOOL Adjust the engine lifting device (01) and tighten the bolted connections.
  3. Mount lifting device (3) with shackle (2) on the front lifting eye of the engine.
  4. Tighten clamping bolt (4) and raise engine slightly until the load is taken off the front engine mounts.
