System diagnosis

IMPORTANT Using the new STAR DIAGNOSIS software, it is still also possible to address older central gateway control units (N93). The system check is always ensured.

IMPORTANT The system diagnosis integrated into the central gateway control unit is no longer used.

STAR DIAGNOSIS reads out the fault codes directly from the fault memory of the control units and evaluates the faults. For this, STAR DIAGNOSIS must be connected to the central gateway control unit by the data link connector (X11/4) and by the diagnosis bus. The central gateway control unit has access to the Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C), the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B), as well as to the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).

Programming of the vehicle variants

The different variants, such as special equipment, national and functional variants, are stored in the central gateway control unit at the factory at the end of production and activated specific to the vehicle.

In certain cases, it is necessary for the central gateway control unit to be programmed in the workshop:

The following information is displayed using STAR DIAGNOSIS for each diagnosis result:

Central gateway control unit, location/task   GF00.19-P-4100T
Data link connector, location/task/design/ function   GF54.22-P-2100T
