Networking:
- The oil level check switch (S43) is read in by the CDI control unit (N3/9) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) and sent as a message to the Controller Area Network bus, Class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C)
- The coolant temperature sensor (B11/4) is read in by the CDI control unit (N3/9) or ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10). The temperature value is sent as a message to the CAN-C.
- The crankshaft position sensor (L5) (engine 271) or crankshaft Hall sensor (B70) (engines 272, 642) is read in by the CDI control unit (N3/9) or ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10). The CDI control unit (N3/9) or ME control unit N3/10) determine from the crankshaft position sensor pulses (L5) (engine 271) or the crankshaft Hall sensor (B70) (engine 272, 642) the engine speed and transfers a corresponding message to the CAN C bus.
The following components are read in by the ESP, PML and BAS control unit (N47-5):
- Left front rpm sensor (L6/1L6/)
- Right front rpm sensor (L6/2L6/)
- Left rear rpm sensor (L6/3L6/)
- Right rear rpm sensor (L6/4L6/)
The ESP, PML and BAS control unit (N47-5) determines from the pulses of the rpm sensor (left front rpm sensor (L6/1), right front rpm sensor (L6/2), left rear rpm sensor (L6/3), right rear rpm sensor (L6/4)) the wheel speeds and sends the corresponding messages to the CAN C bus. The instrument cluster (A1) receives these messages and uses them to determine the vehicle speed and the distance traveled.
