Removal & Installation

NOTE: Numbers and letters in parenthesis refer to letters and numbers in illustrations.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels.
  2. Disconnect brake pad wear sensor (if equipped).
  3. Using a punch (35), remove retaining pins (41). See Fig 1 .
  4. Using a lever (034) remove brake pads (43) from brake caliper.
  5. Remove brake pad wear sensor (if equipped).
  6. Installation is the reverse of removal. Smear side surfaces (small arrows) of brake pads (43) lightly with brake pad paste. Replace brake pad wear indicator sensor if insulation layer on contact plate is worn through or if sensor or wiring are damaged. Before installing brake pads, press pistons into caliper. If caliper has 4 pistons, wedge 2 pistons while pressing 2 remaining pistons back. Tighten nuts and bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
