Except C32 AMG

NOTE: Numbers and letters in parenthesis refer to letters and numbers in illustrations.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels.
  2. Disconnect brake pad contact sensor connector (S 10/1x1). See Fig 1 .
  3. Remove self-locking bolts (31c), remove caliper (31a) upwards (to engine side) and tie caliper to body using wire hook.
  4. Remove brake pads (31g).
  5. NOTE: Draw off some brake fluid from brake master cylinder beforehand, to prevent brake fluid reservoir overflowing when pressing back caliper piston. On 4-piston calipers secure pair of opposing pistons with plastic wedges to prevent them from sliding out. Press back other pistons with resetting device. If caliper piston is difficult to move, replace brake caliper. See BRAKE CALIPER (FRONT)  .
  6. Press back caliper piston (47) using resetting device (031). See Figure .
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check brake caliper dust boot for damage. If Brake caliper dust boot is damaged, replace brake caliper. Clean contact surface of brake pad (31g) in brake carrier and caliper (31a) using a brake caliper brush. See Fig 2 . Install new self-locking bolts (31c). Ensure brake pad wear sensor wire is properly routed. During installation, ensure retaining plates (31d) are fitted correctly to brake carrier. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Before driving, pump brake pedal several times until brake pads contact brake discs. Check brake fluid in brake fluid reservoir and correct if necessary.
