  5. Remove brake pad contact sensor from backing plate of brake pad.
  6. NOTE: Draw off some brake fluid from brake master cylinder beforehand, to prevent brake fluid reservoir overflowing when pressing back caliper piston. On 4-piston calipers secure pair of opposing pistons with plastic wedges to prevent them from sliding out. Press back other pistons with resetting device. If piston is difficult to move, install new brake caliper.
  7. Press back piston using resetting device.
  8. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check brake caliper (31a) for leaks and dust seal for damage. During installation drive in retaining pins (41) as far as the stop using a suitable drift punch. Ensure that the pad retaining plates (31d) are seated correctly. Marking of brake pad must point in running direction of relevant wheel to prevent noise when braking. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Check brake fluid in reservoir and correct if necessary. Before driving, pump brake pedal several times until brake pads contact brake discs.
