Retrofitting wiring harness of CD changer - AZ82.64-P-0001-01N
Model 170 as of 1.7.98 with code 316 or 317 except code 351
- Remove fiber optic cable module M1 installed as standard equipment from D2B connectors on radio (A2) and on CTEL interface (A34/4) and tie back (no longer required).
- The D2B fiber optic cable ring is supplemented with two new fiber optic cable modules M2 and M3.
- Route new fiber optic cable modules M2 and M3 as shown in figure and if possible along existing fiber optic cables in vehicle.
Observe special guidelines for routing fiber optic cables. The module M1 (dotted lines) remains unchanged (standard equipment).
- Insert fiber optic cable modules M2 and M3 in trunk into new connector for connecting CD changer (A2/6) and close connector.
- Insert white insert (ws) for module M2 into connector on CTEL interface (A34/4) and close connector.
- Route fiber optic cable module M3 along existing fiber optic cable observing special routing guidelines and fasten with adhesive felt.
- Insert red insert (rt) for module M3 into connector on radio (A2), close connector and connect to radio (A2).
- Prepare CD changer (1) power supply wiring harness as shown in figure.
- Strip insulation off of end of blue/black lead (bl/sw) from CD changer (1) power supply wiring harness.
- Route CD changer (1) power supply wiring harness in vehicle as shown in figure.
- Route wiring harness (1) and fiber optic cable module M3 through rear wall in trunk as shown in figure and fasten with felt (arrows) in area of rear wall.
- Route wiring harness (1) and fiber optic cable module M3 along existing leads in trunk on left to spare wheel recess.
- Fasten wiring harness (1) and fiber optic cable modules M2 and M3 to trunk floor in area of rear edge of trunk with wide strip of adhesive felt.
Ensure that the fiber optic cable modules in the area of the CD changer still has a free length of 500 mm to allow proper installation on the CD changer.
- Route wiring harness (1) and fiber optic cable module M3 from rear wall over center tunnel to radio shaft and fasten with adhesive felt.
- Route tie-out to radio in radio shaft.
- Disconnect black 10-pin connector (11) from radio and separate blue/black lead (bl/sw) approx. 50 mm behind connector and remove insulation from both ends.
- Solder cut blue/black lead (bl/sw) to blue/black lead (bl/sw) from CD changer (1) power supply wiring harness using solder connector (a).
- Insert brown lead (br) from CD changer (1) power supply wiring harness into chamber 6 and black lead (sw) into chamber 5 of black 10-pin connector (11).
- Connect black 10-pin connector (11) to radio.
