Adjust Shift Cable
NOTE:
As of 6/1/2000: Models 170, 203, 208, 209, 210, 211.
- 1 - Press in catch (1) of shift cable at underside of vehicle until lock (2) holds the catch (1) in clamped position. See Fig 1.
- 2 - Press gearshift lever (3) to the right and raise. See Fig 2.

Fit setting gauge (01) with recess at the top and release gearshift lever (3).
Special Tool: Setting gauge (716 589 00 23 00). See Fig 4.

Push setting gauge (01) forwards until it touches the stop of the lock for the reverse gear (a). See Fig 3.NOTE: Ensure that the setting gauge (01) touches the housing at the front and back (b).

Press the gearshift lever (3) to fix the basic position to the left or the setting gauge (01) and hold.NOTE: Hold the gearshift lever (3) in this position until a second person has released the lock (2) on the underside of the vehicle.
- 6 - Allow a second person to press the lock (2) of the shift cable on the underside of the vehicle until the catch (1) is released.
- 7 - Remove the setting gauge (01).
