| Electrostatic charging may occur at low relative air humidity if electric non-conductors rub against each other or are separated. Shoes with insulating plastic or rubber soles increase this effect. This charging cannot be prevented but its effects can be reduced by means of various measures. |
MB leather preserver (A 001 986 59 71 10) or MB antistatic agent (A 006 989 97 71) is suitable for treating leather-upholstered seats. Apply MB leather preserver sparingly using a clean cloth and, after drying, rub down lightly using a soft clean cloth. The effect lasts for approx. 3 to 4 weeks. |

| A vehicle-to-road ground strap will not remedy the problem. | MB fabric seats, however, cannot be treated effectively. When getting out of the vehicle, it is therefore advisable to grip conductive metal (e.g. the door handle) and not to let go until you have got up from the seat. | ||
| Passengers themselves can, however, become charged, especially if the vehicle is fitted with MB fabric or leather-upholstered seats or if the passengers are wearing clothing which causes electrostatic charging. | Fit and secure antistatic velour mats available as MB accessories. This can prevent unpleasant electric shocks resulting from static discharge. |
