Model 170 as of start of production 

The central locking can only be actuated from outside using the radio frequency or infrared remote central locking. Unlocking and locking the vehicle with the mechanical key has no influence on the central locking.

When unlocking a distinction can be made between "global" and "selective" unlocking.

• Global: unlock all locking positions of the vehicle
• Selective: Only unlock the driver's door and fuel tank flap The central locking can be operated from outside with the mechanical key.

Actuation of the PSE 

On models 129 and 140 the PSE is actuated by the radio frequency/infrared DAS control module (N54/4) with the lock (convenience) signals SN1 or SN2.

On model 170 the control line from the radio frequency DAS control module (N54/3) and from the interior switch (CL) (S6/1s2) is connected to the multi-function control module (N10-3).

The corresponding control signals are transmitted by the multi-function control module (N10-3) to the PSE (A37) via CAN data buses.

Special functions of central locking 

• Emergency unlocking 

  A crash sensor is integrated in the pneumatic system equipment which unlocks the vehicle if there is a deceleration of 6g about all vehicle axes.

  The sensor is active only when the vehicle is unlocked from outside.

• Automatic locking 

  The vehicle is locked automatically from a speed >15 km/h provided that this function is activated.

• Re-locking 

  To prevent unwanted unlocking by remote control, the vehicle is relocked automatically if a door is not opened within 40 seconds, if a key is not inserted in the ignition/starter switch or the interior switch (CL) is not operated.
