The selector lever can be moved into 6 different positions. The driver can select 3 different transmission modes using the transmission mode switch (S16/5).

The selector lever positions have the following meanings:

P Park lock and start position

R Reverse gear

N NEUTRAL

(No power transmission takes place. The vehicle is freely movable.)

D All 5 forward gears are available.

Transmission mode switch (S16/5) 

Sport program "S":

Comfort program "C":

IMPORTANT If kickdown is actuated the gears are shifted up and down as for the sport program "S".

Manual program "M":

Touch shift function 

Program "C" or "S":

+ Touch: Upshift by one shift range each time.

Press and hold down: Change from the current shift range direct to "D"

Program "M":

+ Touch: Upshift by one gear in each case.

The selected gear is only engaged at the permitted rotational speed.

IMPORTANT If the shift range is limited, the transmission shifts up gears when the engine speed is close to the engine breakaway speed.
