A fuel system with a high-performance fuel pump (HPI 4.6) is used in order to satisfy the requirements in respect of a constant fuel pressure with a corresponding delivery quantity even at high engine loads and revolutions

The fuel system pressure is regulated to about 3.8 bar by the fuel pressure regulator.

The filtered and pressure regulated fuel (3.8 bar) is fed over a fuel line to the engine (single-line system).

Fuel pump actuation

The fuel pump (M3) or the fuel pump assembly (M3) is directly actuated over the fuel pump relay (K40/5kT, N10/2kA) by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
