The exhaust gas recirculation valve is located at the rear at the right cylinder head.

Task

The exhaust gas recirculation valve enables exhaust gas recirculation when the vacuum pressure is controlled.

Function

For the purpose of exhaust gas recirculation, the exhaust gas recirculation pressure transducer (Y31/1) controls the exhaust gas recirculation vacuum capsule (31/3) using vacuum pressure from the variable intake manifold.

The exhaust gas recirculation valve (31/1) is opened at varying levels by this actuation at a vacuum pressure from around 80 to 200 mbar. The quantity of recirculated exhaust gases is thus controlled.
