Front emergency belt tensioner, location The driver ETR [GUS] ignition squib (R12/1) and passenger ETR [GUS] ignition squib (R12/2) are located at the bottom of the respective B-pillar behind the plastic lining.
Front emergency belt tensioner - task The emergency tensioning retractor serves to take up the slack in the seat belt in the event of a crash (frontal or rear end collision) and prevents the seat belt's film reel effect.
The close-fitting seat belt means that vehicle occupants are exposed to the deceleration forces acting on the body at an earlier stage.
