Removing and installing rear bumper - AR88.20-P-2200M

REMOVING Removing     
1 Remove luggage compartment trim panels IMPORTANT Rear wall trim panel can remain in vehicle. AR68.30-P-4600M
2 Separate plug connection of parktronic system (X35/28)    
3 Take out screws (12)    
4 Unscrew nuts (14)    
5 Unscrew screws (11)    
6 Remove cover (4) and unscrew nuts (5) IMPORTANT Ensure that the inner nuts do not drop into the cavity in the rear center assembly when they are taken off.  
N Take off bumper (1) complete with bumper carrier (2) NOTES Pull the side ends at the bumper down slightly for this step and run out the hooks (13) to the outside. Have a second person assist you.  
8 Unscrew bolts (6) and take bumper carrier (2) off the bumper (1)    
INSTALLING Installing     
9 Insert bumper carrier (2) into bumper (1) and screw in bolts (6) IMPORTANT Fit on existing M-AMG bumper.  
    Retrofit M-AMG trim parts AZ88.00-P-0001F 
10 Fit aligning wedges (3) onto stud bolts at bumper carrier (2)    
11 Install bumper (1) complete with bumper carrier (2) and aligning wedges (3) IMPORTANT When inserting, ensure that the bracket (7) on the left and right are pushed into the guides (8).  
12 Screw on nuts (5) IMPORTANT Ensure that the inner nuts do not drop into the cavity in the rear center assembly when inserting.
Tighten the nuts (5) only sufficiently to still be able to alter the position of the aligning wedges (3).
 
13 Alter position of bumper (1) in longitudinal direction IMPORTANT Alter position of aligning wedges (3) with aligning pin (3a) until the edge at the bumper (10) is aligned with the edge at the rear fender (9).  
14 Tighten nuts (5) and install covers (4) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.20-P-1002-01A 
15 Screw in bolts (11)    
16 Screw on nuts (14)    
17 Screw in bolts (12) NOTES Ensure the hooks (13) are correctly located at the inner edge at the rear fender.  
18 Fit together plug connection of parktronic system (X35/28)    
19 Install luggage compartment trim panels   AR68.30-P-4600M
