General function sequence for headlamp switch-off delay (SWA)
The headlamp switch-off delay serves to illuminate the area surrounding the vehicle when it is exited or when locating the vehicle.

The individual exterior lights are actuated as follows:
The front signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) actuates the following components:
- Left standing and parking lights (E1e3) and right standing and parking lights (E2e3)
- Left front fog lamp (E5/1) and right front fog lamp (E5/2)
- Left front side-marker lamp (E6/9) and right front side-marker lamp (E6/10) (only

The rear signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/2) actuates the following components:
- Left taillight and parking light (E3e2) and right taillight and parking light (E4e2)
- Left license plate lamp (E19/1) and right license plate lamp (E19/2)
- Left rear side-marker lamp (E6/3) and right rear side-marker lamp (E6/4) (only

In vehicles with code (Q55) Trailer hitch with reinforced low ball head, the standing/parking lights of the trailer are actuated by the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) via the 13-pin trailer hitch socket (X58).

- Function activated via the instrument cluster (A1)
- Circuit 61 OFF
- Automatic light switch daylight sensor (B32/1) detects "darkness"
Headlamp switch-off delay function sequence
After switching off the engine, the vehicle ambient illumination is activated for the period set in the instrument cluster.
When a door or the trunk lid is opened, the function sequence starts again.

- Terminal 15C OFF
- Automatic light switch daylight sensor detects "darkness"
Locator lighting function sequence
When the vehicle is unlocked using the transmitter key (A8/1) the locator lighting is activated for a period of approx. t = 40 s.
