	Remove/install
	Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.	Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.	AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

1	Unscrew cap of brake fluid reservoir and extract some brake fluid	In order to prevent the brake fluid reservoir from overflowing when pressing back the brake pistons.
2	Remove the front wheels
	Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary		AP40.10-P-4050G
	Checking
3	Check the lining thickness of the brake pads (43) and condition of the brake disks
	Check lining thickness of brake pads and condition of brake disks	If the brake pads (43) have been worn beyond the permissible wear limit, check brake system using pressure tester for any leaks:	AP42.10-P-4251G

4	Detach front left brake pad contact sensor (S10/1) or front right brake pad contact sensor (S10/2) from feed line (52)
5	Drive out retaining pin (41) using a drift (035)	Installation: Hammer in retaining pin (41) as far as the stop.
6	Remove spring steel sheet (41a)
7	Pull out brake pad (43) using extractor (070).	If brake disk or brake pad is worn (43) push back beforehand using pusher tool (031). Brake pads (43) are to be disposed of as special waste. The local authorities can provide information regarding whether disposal is also permitted as industrial waste similar to domestic waste. Installation: Only sets of brake pads (43) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed. Apply light coating of brake pad paste to side surfaces (arrows) of brake pads (43).

8	Remove left front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1) or right front brake pad contact sensor (S10/2) and check for signs of damage	Replace faulty contact sensors.
9	Secure each opposing pair of brake pistons using plastic wedges to prevent them from slipping out.		Fig 5
10	Press back the other pair of brake pistons using the pusher tool (031).	Do not bend heat shield while doing so. If the brake piston (47) is difficult to move: ↓

11	Remove plastic wedge and push back second pair of brake pistons
	Clean
12	Clean guide of brake pads (43)	Do not damage dust boots.
13	Install in the reverse order
	Checking
	Risk of accident when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work	Before starting engine, actuate brake pedal several times until the pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A

15	Check fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir, correct if necessary
