Ultrasonic backup assist wiring harness (9)
- Disconnect purple/white cable (vi/ws) and tie up together with the circuit loop of the grey cable (gr).
- Connect 28-pin and 12-pin coupling (9a, 9b) to control module (1) (arrows).
- Connect ground cable with round cable socket to ground (left wheelhousing in trunk) (W6).
- Disconnect connector from right taillamp (see arrow).
- Connect 6-pin white coupling of ultrasonic sensors (10) to the cable from the bumper.
- Solder red cable (rt) of ultrasonic backup assist wiring harness onto grey/yellow cable (gr/ge) of left taillamp connector and insulate.
Check grey/yellow cable (gr/ge) of backup signal or consult wiring diagram.
- Insert 680 Ω resistance (9e)into coding housing (9d)and additionally secure with a cable strap.
Never replace resistance (9e) with a fuse.
- Connect black cable (sw) of the wiring harness (9) with flat-type connector and black/white cable (sw/ws) with flat-type coupling so that the warning tone volume is set to low.
If the black cable (sw) with flat-type connector is not connected to the black/white cable (sw/ws) with a flat-type connector, the maximum volume of the warning tone is set.
- Route the branch-off line from the wiring harness (9) to the display instrument with the 6-pin black coupling (2c) under the rear-window shelf as shown in the figure and fix in position with adhesive felt.
For vehicles without trailer coupling only
10.1 Insulate and tie up free purple cable (vi) of the wiring harness (9).
For vehicles with trailer coupling only
10.2 Solder purple cable (vi) of the wiring harness (9) to the brown/white cable (br/ws) of the trailer coupling wiring harness.
When the trailer socket is plugged in, the brown/white cable (br/ws) supplies a ground signal which then switches off the backup assist. (When the trailer coupling is retrofitted the brown/white cable (br/ws) can also be tied up in the wheelhousing).
