Testing Procedure (Ignition Coil T1/5)

  1. Primary Circuits A & B, Ignition Coil (T1/5) -  Connect oscilloscope between ME-SFI control module connector "F" terminal No. 13 (socket box terminal No. 117) and ME-SFI control module connector "A" terminal No. 2 (socket box terminal No. 2). Observe oscilloscope while operating starter. Voltage should be 200-350 volts.
  2. Connect oscilloscope between ME-SFI control module connector "F" terminal No. 14 (socket box terminal No. 118) and ME-SFI control module connector "A" terminal No. 2 (socket box terminal No. 2). Observe oscilloscope while operating starter. Voltage should be 200-350 volts. If voltage is within specification, go to Testing Procedure (Ignition Coil Ignition Voltage T1/1 To T1/8)  . If voltage is not within specification, go to next step.
  3. Primary Circuits A & B, Primary Winding Of Ignition Coil (T1/5) -  Turn ignition off. Connect DVOM between ME-SFI control module connector "F" terminals No. 13 and 14 (socket box terminals No. 117 and 118). Resistance should be 0.9-1.6 ohms (resistance value of both primary circuits). Resistance of primary winding A or B individually is approximately 0.6 ohms at 68°F (20°C). If resistance is within specification, test is complete. If resistance is not within specification, possible causes are wiring harness failure or ignition coil (T1/5) defective. Repair as necessary.
