Audible turn signal indicator (A1h2) 

The audible turn signal indicator (A1h2) is integrated in the instrument cluster (A1). This is a type of relay without contacts. The audible turn signal indicator is actuated directly by the light module (N7).

The turn signal always ticks in parallel with the turn signal frequency of the left and right turn signal indicator lamps (Ale1, A1e2).

Warning tone 

The instrument cluster (A1) has a loudspeaker which outputs a warning tone with a duration of approx. 0.2 seconds and a frequency of about 2000 Hz in the event of various faults and operating conditions. In addition an intermittent tone is output for some messages in parallel with the message or indicator lamp.

A single warning tone is output: 

• When most fault and warning messages occur (in addition to the message in the multifunction display (A1p13) and should any indicator lamps come on).

  An intermittent tone is output:

• When the low brake fluid level/parking brake indicator lamp (A1e7)  comes on if the parking brake is not released when starting off. The signal for actuation comes from the traction systems control module (N47)  via the CAN/interior.
• On some national variants if the ignition key  is inserted in the DI control module (N73) when the ignition is OFF and the driver's door is open.

  The "Ignition key status information" comes via a direct line from the DI control module (N73) and the door contact signal directly from the left or right front door contact switch (S17/3, S17/4)

• If the side light is switched on  , the key is removed and  the driver's door is open (light reminder).

• If a speed of 210 km/h  is exceeded on vehicles with special protection  . The warning tone ceases when the speed drops below 207 km/h.

  The speed value displayed in the electronic speedometer (A1p8) is used.

• If a speed of 120 km/h  is exceeded (Gulf States only  ). The warning tone ceases when the speed drops below 117 km/h.
• If the speed set in the variable speed limiter is exceeded e.g. due to overshooting.

  The speed value displayed is used.

  The maximum speed set comes from the injection system control module (N3) via the CAN/engine compartment.
