Displaying fuel level function - GF54.30-P-3018B

MODEL 208 as of 1.8.99, 210 as of 1.7.99 

Display of fuel level 

• Starting with the ignition switch in position "2" the current fuel level is displayed in the fuel level gauge (A1p2).
• If the vehicle is refuelled when the ignition/starter switch is in position "2" the display is only updated with a replenishing quantity of at least 7 liters.
• Once the ignition is switched on again the display is always updated. There is always a time delay before the display is updated so that variations in the display are suppressed e.g. when cornering.
• The value of the fuel level displayed is placed as a message to the CAN/engine compartment.

Reserve range 

• The reserve range covers 0 -R. This corresponds to a quantity of 0 - approx. 12 liters.
• If the reserve range is reached, the fuel reserve indicator lamp (A1e4) is illuminated in yellow when the engine is running. It is actuated after a time delay to prevent the lamp flickering.

In the event of a fault the fuel level gauge (A1p2) pointer moves to the left stop. The fuel reserve indicator lamp (A1e4) is not  actuated.

Signal curve: 

The fuel level sensor (B4) on the model 210 and the fuel gauge sensor, left half of tank (B4/1) and fuel gauge sensor, right half of tank (B4/2) are read in directly by the instrument cluster (A1).

Fuel tank sensor, jamming recognition (model 208 only) 

If the instrument cluster (A1) recognizes that the resistance value of one of the two fuel level sensors does not change over a set distance, an appropriate entry occurs in the fault memory of the instrument cluster (A1). This entry is erased again when the required change in resistance has occurred for both sensors.
