Remove/install rear suspension strut - AR32.25-P-1016N

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on ABC-suspension   AH32.50-P-0001-01N 
IMPORTANT Whenever a suspension strut is replaced, the relevant plunger travel sensor must be calibrated with STAR DIAGNOSIS.    
1 Remove cover (41e) and make a cut in the foam insert underneath IMPORTANT Make sure that the line of the left or right rear plunger travel sensor (B22/1, B22/6) is not damaged.  
2 Separate electrical connector for left or right rear plunger travel sensor (B22/1, B22/6) behind cover (41e)    
3 Unscrew nuts (41f, 41g) on suspension strut (41) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1004-04B 
4 Raise vehicle with lifting platform    
5 Remove rear wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove and install wheels   AP40.10-P-4050Z
6 Open bleed screw (57) and depressurize spring strut (41) IMPORTANT The engine must be shut off for at least 5 minutes.
IMPORTANT Open the bleed screw (57) carefully so that hydraulic fluid can flow out slowly.
 
7 Remove the quick-release fitting (41a) of the hydraulic line IMPORTANT Check protective cap (41b) and replace if necessary.
NOTES Ensure that no dirt enters the open quick-release coupling (41a).
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that the quick-release coupling (41a) engages properly.
 
8 Detach brake caliper with brake pads from rear axle IMPORTANT The brake hose must not be disconnected from the brake caliper during the repair work.
NOTES To relieve the strain on the brake hose, fasten the rear brake caliper onto the vehicle free of tension so that it is not damaged during repair work.

9 Remove cover under spring control arm (72)    
10 Unfasten bolted connection (41c, 41d) between suspension strut (41) and spring control arm (72) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1005-04B 
11 Press spring control arm (72) downwards and remove suspension strut (41) IMPORTANT Do not damage the boot. Do not bend the level sensor link rod and joints!  
REFER TO FORMS Dispose of strut.   OS32.25-P-0122-01N 
12 Install in the reverse order    
13 Fill and bleed active body control (ABC)   AR32.50-P-0021N 
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

14 Conduct engine test run and check the ABC suspension for leaks with the engine running NOTES In the event of a leak, determine and eliminate the cause otherwise malfunctions of the ABC suspension and serious environmental pollution may occur.
