Outside air temperature sensor function - GF83.57-P-2103-01P
Function
The current value of the outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14) is read by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
The outside temperature is calculated using the value from the outside temperature display temperature sensor (B14) and the vehicle speed. The fact that the outside air temperature is dependent on the vehicle speed prevents any excess temperature from being displayed when the car is at a standstill or traveling slowly, e.g. as induced by engine heat radiation.
When switching the ignition on or off and at speeds of less than 20 km/h the last measured resistance value is used.
The outside air temperature is needed for:
- the outside temperature indicator (A1p4),
- the mirror heaters (M21/1r1 and M21/2r1),
- the washer nozzle hose heater (R2/11),
- the washer nozzle heater (R2/1),
- the interior temperature control and
- the engine control.
