Disassemble

1 - Disassemble transmission housing:
Transmission 716.6 (cars except model 209.4) without Sequentronic automated manual transmission (SEQ). See DISASSEMBLE/ASSEMBLE TRANSMISSION HOUSING .
2 - Detach locking plates (5). See Fig 1.
3 - Drive out input shaft bearing (2).
Use Sleeve (168 589 00 14 00). See Fig 2.
4 - Drive out countershaft bearing (3).
Use Drift (716 589 02 15 00). See Fig 3.
5 - Remove main shift rail bearing (1).
Use Internal extractor (000 589 25 33 00). See Fig 4.

Use Countersupport (000 589 33 33 00). See Fig 5.
6 - Remove guide sleeves (6). See Fig 1.

Assembling

7 - Recut threads for attaching the locking plates.
8 - Install guide sleeves (6).
9 - Press in input shaft bearing (2). See Fig 1.
NOTE: Replace bearing.

Use Drift (716 589 00 15 00). See Fig 6.
10 - Press in countershaft bearing (3).
NOTE: Replace bearing.

Use Drift (716 589 00 15 00). See Fig 6.
11 - Press in main shift rail bearing (1).
NOTE: Replace bearing.

Use Drift (711 589 04 15 00). See Fig 7.
12 - Attach locking plates (5).
NOTE: Replace bolts.

Torque specification: Bolt, locking plate to transmission. See TRANSMISSION HOUSING .
13 - Assemble transmission housing:
Transmission 716.6 (cars except model 209.4) without Sequentronic automated manual transmission (SEQ). See DISASSEMBLE/ASSEMBLE TRANSMISSION HOUSING .
