  1. SPECIAL TOOL Insert adapter (C) into the guide (arrow) of the SPECIAL TOOL choke angle gauge (A) and fasten with knurled bolt to SPECIAL TOOL choke angle gauge (A).

    IMPORTANTSPECIAL TOOL Use adapter (C) and SPECIAL TOOL angle gauge (A) from the SPECIAL TOOL adjustment tool set. For model 171.4 SPECIAL TOOL use adapter with tool number 211 589 05 21.

    2. Shown on model 203, driver-side wiper arm (1) in reverse position 

  2. SPECIAL TOOL Securely clamp adapter (C) to SPECIAL TOOL angle gauge (A) by tightening the knurled bolt (2) at the head of the driver-side wiper arm (1).
  3. Lower driver-side wiper arm (1) until all three contact points on the base of the SPECIAL TOOL angle gauge (A) touch the windshield.
  4. Read angle of incidence of driver-side wiper arm (1) off of scale of SPECIAL TOOL angle gauge (A), write it down, and compare it to the test and adjustment values.

    IMPORTANT The relevant sign of the test and adjustment values must be changed for right-hand drive vehicles.

  5. Lift driver-side wiper arm (1) and remove SPECIAL TOOL angle gauge (A) with SPECIAL TOOL adapter (C).
  6. Repeat testing procedure for front passenger side wiper arm.
  7. Fit wiper blades.

    8. Shown on model 203, driver-side wiper arm (1) in parked position 

  8. Switch on ignition (circuit 15 or circuit 15R), allow wiper system to move to parked position, switch ignition off again
  9. Remove wiper blades.
  10. SPECIAL TOOL Attach angle gauge (A) with SPECIAL TOOL adapter to driver-side wiper arm (1).
  11. Lower driver-side wiper arm (1) until all three contact points on the base of the SPECIAL TOOL angle gauge (A) are touching the windshield.
  12. Read angle of incidence of driver-side wiper arm (1) off of scale of SPECIAL TOOL angle gauge (A), write it down, and compare it to the test and adjustment values.
  13. SPECIAL TOOL Detach angle gauge (A) with SPECIAL TOOL adapter from driver-side wiper arm (1).
  14. Repeat testing procedure for front passenger side wiper arm.
