Retrofitting optical waveguide wiring harness - AN82.70-P-0002-01APP

Model 203.0 with sound system

  1. Prepare optical waveguide wiring harness (1) as shown in figure.

  3. Check optical waveguide routing on right of trunk.

IMPORTANT In this case, only the amplifier for the sound system (N40/3) may be installed.

  4. Check optical waveguide routing in vehicle.

IMPORTANT The maximum station sequence is:

    • Radio (A2)
    • Amplifier for sound system (N40/3)
    • CD changer (A2/6) (if installed)
    • Radio (A2)

  5. Expose the two optical waveguide connectors D2B (X39/43) in the area of the cable duct of the right rear door and check the routing direction.

IMPORTANT The optical waveguides routed toward the front in the direction of motion lead to the radio (A2) or CD changer. The optical waveguides routed toward the rear to the trunk in the direction of motion lead to the amplifier for sound system (N40/3).

  6. Check the optical waveguides leading to the front to the radio (A2) at couplers A and B.
  7. Find the coupler (B) that has a red insert (rt) on the radio side (A2) (arrow) and lay aside (it is not altered).

  8. Remove the white insert (ws) originating from the radio out of the production coupler (A).
  9. Insert the removed white insert (ws) into the new coupler (N) for the optical waveguide wiring harness (1) and close the coupler (N). Remove the green cover cap from the white insert (ws) of the optical waveguide wiring harness (1) and insert the white insert (ws) into the old coupler (A) and close the coupler.

  10. The nominal configuration in the vehicle now is:
    • Radio (A2)
    • Amplifier for sound system (N40/3)
    • Telephone interface (A34/4)
    • CD changer (A2/6) (if installed)
    • Radio (A2)
