The brake light switch is located on top of the brake pedal.
Design
Function
- The N.O. contact (1) transmits the signal for brake pedal actuation to the brake lights (brake lights on).
- The N.C. contact (2) transmits the signal for brake pedal actuation directly to the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) up to approx. 2004, and as of approx. 2004 to the ESP control unit or ESP, PML and BAS control unit (N47-5), which then forwards the signal onto the CAN data bus.
--> The brake signal is used (up to 05/2005), for example, by the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) to deactivate the cruise control function.
