Removal & Installation

NOTE: Numbers and letters in parenthesis refer to letters and numbers in illustrations.
  1. Fold up rear seat cushion and remove cover (1). See Figure .
  2. Loosen adjusting nut (89) on cable slack adjuster. See Fig 1 .
  3. Remove cover below instrument panel. See COVER BELOW INSTRUMENT PANEL  .
  4. Remove cover (71a) of pedal assembly (71).
  5. Unhook brake cable (85) from tensioning shackle on parking brake pedal (75) using snap release tool. See Fig 2 and Figure .
  6. Remove pedal assembly bolt on front wall pillar.
  7. Raise pedal assembly slightly and remove plug from parking brake indicator switch (S12).
  8. Use tool (010), remove release cable (79) from pedal assembly. See Fig 3 .
  9. NOTE: Do not loosen Torx bolts on back of pedal assembly. Otherwise pedal assembly will be irreparably damaged.
  10. Remove pedal assembly.
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Adjust parking brake. See PARKING BRAKE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
