Removal & Installation
NOTE:
Letters and numbers in parenthesis correspond to letters and numbers in illustrations.
- Raise vehicle and support.
- Check toe at rear axle and adjust if necessary. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS under SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURE.
- Remove track rod (4). See Fig 1.
- Remove cam bolt, eccentric disc. For installation position, mark eccentric disc relative to the rear axle carrier (arrow).
- Remove track rod rubber mount. See TRACK ROD AND REPLACEMENT OF RUBBER MOUNT .
- Remove torsion bar connecting rod.
- Installation is reverse of removal procedure. Tighten nuts and bolts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Line up arrow on eccentric disc when installing. Replace self-locking nuts and bolts. When tightening nuts of track rod at rear axle carrier, move rear axle shaft to approximately horizontal position. Clean grease off ball head bolt and conical seat in wheel carrier. Press ball head bolt into cone, hold with Allen wrench if necessary.
NOTE:
DO NOT damage rubber sleeve when removing.
