SLK32 AMG
NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove brake hoses.
- Remove brake caliper. See SLK32 AMG under BRAKE CALIPER (FRONT) .
- Remove brake pad contact sensors from brake pad backing plates.
- Remove brake pads from brake caliper.
- Press back caliper piston (47) using resetting device (031). See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Check brake caliper for leaks and dust seal for damage, if brake caliper is leaking or dust seal is damaged, replace brake caliper. Clean contact surface of brake pad in brake carrier and brake caliper using a brake caliper brush. See Fig 3 . Install inner brake pad with riveted springs (arrow) into caliper piston, install outer brake pad into brake carrier (33) and install brake caliper. Ensure brake pad wear sensor wire is properly routed. Torque nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Before driving, pump brake pedal several times until brake pads contact discs. Check brake fluid reservoir and correct fluid level as necessary.
NOTE:
Push back one caliper piston at a time. Hold caliper piston not being pressed back with another resetting device. If caliper piston is difficult to move, replace brake caliper.
