20.3.04	Oil filler/drain screw on rear axle differential modified	Phased in as of 19.01.04 The oil filler screws and oil drain screws should always be replaced after being unscrewed. The new oil filler screws and drain screws as well as the tapped holes must be cleaned with a special cleaning spray and provided with a special sealing compound	BT35.31-P-0015-01A
	The oil filler screw should always be replaced after being unscrewed from the rear axle center assembly. The new oil filler screw as well as the tapped hole must be cleaned with a special cleaning spray and the oil filler screw provided with a special sealing compound	Only carry out oil level check at interior temperature. 	Remove/install

1	Remove rear wheel Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary		AP40.10-P-4050Z
2	Detach twelve-point nut on rear axle (37)	In order to avoid wheel bearing damage, the vehicle must no longer be moved on its wheels when the twelve-point collar nut is loosened. Installation: Replace twelve-point collar nut.	AR35.30-P-0115-01A

3	Detach left rear rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear rpm sensor (L6/4) from wheel carrier (7)		*BA42.30-P-1001-02A
4	Detach bracket (1) of electrical feed line of left rear rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear rpm sensor (L6/4) on wheel carrier (7)		*BA42.20-P-1002-01A
5	Detach torque strut (3) from wheel carrier (7)	Installation: The rear-axle shaft (37) must be horizontal when tightening the nut

7	Detach tie rod (4) from wheel carrier (7)	See ↓
		Remove/install track rod and replacement of rubber mount Installation: The rear-axle shaft (37) must be horizontal when tightening the nut	AR35.20-P-0112B
8	Fold wheel carrier (7) down outwards and pull rear axle shaft (37) out of the rear axle shaft flange	Do not overstretch the rear brake cable. Do not damage the rubber boot of rear axle shaft (37) and exciter ring for rpm sensor in order to prevent ESP malfunctions.

9	Lever rear axle shaft (37) out of the rear axle center assembly (50) and take out sideways	Do not damage radial sealing ring (32) in rear axle center assembly (50). Installation: Replace locking ring (37o) on inner spline profile.
