Detecting seeping pressure loss, function - GF40.15-P-2001S

MODELS 215, 220 with CODE (475) Tire pressure indicator

Function

The status "Soft Warning" (reminder, display color "yellow") is characterized by a minimum tire pressure at which driving safety is still assured. The multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1) advises the driver to correct the tire inflation pressure at the first opportunity. A "soft warning" is triggered if the temperature-evaluated tire inflation pressure is lower by >0.2 bar and <0.4 bar than the stored specified pressure.

This occurs first in the next ignition sequence and is displayed for approx. 30 seconds. As a result the driver is requested to check the tire inflation pressures, to correct them if necessary and afterwards to reactivate the tire pressure monitor (RDK) system.

If the temperature-evaluated tire inflation pressure is > 0.4 bar under the stored specified pressure, a "hard warning" follows (display color: "Red").

The "hard warning" is only displayed in the same ignition sequence. A "soft warning" follows in the next ignition sequence. The "soft warning", if no reactivation of the system follows, is repeated for approx. 30 seconds each time the engine is started and then goes out again.

The driver is advised to stop and check the condition of the tires immediately. It is the driver's responsibility to decide whether to continue the journey at low speed as far as the nearest garage or whether an on-the-spot repair is necessary (mounting the spare wheel or using TIREFIT).

IMPORTANT On model 215, 220 as of 1.10.03 the tire pressure monitor warning lamp (A1e66) in the instrument cluster (A1) is actuated in parallel with the "hard warning". This lamp only goes out after the system is reactivated.
