Retrofitting refrigeration compartment in rear armrest - AN86.61-P-0001N

MODEL 215 

IMPORTANT The refrigeration compartment has an undervoltage switch and therefore also be operated when the vehicle is stationary without discharging the battery.

When retrofitting, a fuel tank with  through-loading facility must be installed in place of the standard 78-liter fuel tank.

(Not applicable to models with code 282 (skibag in center rear armrest))

DANGER Risk of explosion  from ignition, risk of poisoning  from inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with fuel. No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

REMOVING Removal     
1 Disconnect ground lead from battery

2 Remove rear seat backrest (18) IMPORTANT Except on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282).
IMPORTANT Part is not required.
 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR91.12-P-1620MA
3 Remove cloth cover (17) at rear seat backrest (18) IMPORTANT Except on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282).  
4 Remove control module holder below right rear seat    
5 Remove insulation mat in rear IMPORTANT Except on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282).  
6 Remove skibag (or refrigeration compartment mount) (12) IMPORTANT Only on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282)  
N Remove trim panel of trunk IMPORTANT Rear wall trim and floor covering not required, except on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282).

8 Remove fuel tank IMPORTANT Except on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282).

INSTALLING Installation     
9 Install fuel tank IMPORTANT Except on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282).

10 Route refrigeration compartment wiring harness and connect   AZ86.61-P-0001-01M 
11 Retrofit refrigeration compartment housing IMPORTANT Except on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282).
IMPORTANT Identical to skibag housing

12 Install luggage compartment trim IMPORTANT Floor covering is new part, except on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282).

13 Fit remaining parts to vehicle    
14 Remove skibag from rear armrest and place in trunk (part remains with customer) IMPORTANT Only on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282)

15 Insert refrigeration compartment (A39/1) into refrigeration compartment housing (10) and plug connection cable onto contact strip (6)    
16 Fill fuel tank IMPORTANT Except on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282).

  Inspecting     
17 Carry out version coding for fuel tank version  IMPORTANT Except on models with skibag (through-loading facility) (code 282).
IMPORTANT See Star Diagnosis
 
18 Carry out operational check IMPORTANT See Operating Instructions  
19 In the event of modification to equipment fitted, subsequently enter code or designation of relevant special equipment on vehicle datacard / FDOK
