Retrofitting release lever - AN31.11-P-8080-06N

  1. Place retaining plate (1) on inside of left trunk lining.
  2. Align retaining plate (1) according to dimensions in lower diagram.

    IMPORTANT The upright bracket on the retaining plate (1) aligns with the overhanging profile of the trunk lining (see broken line in upper diagram).

  3. Mark outline of retaining plate (1) on trunk lining and cut out.

  4. Fit retaining plate (1) on panel (see arrow in lower diagram) and secure with a C-clamp.

    IMPORTANT The lug on the retaining plate must abut with the panel (see arrow in lower diagram).

  5. Mark all six holes from the retaining plate (1) and drill to dia. 5 mm.
  6. Treat drilled holes with anticorrosion agent.
  7. Fasten retaining plate (1) with six flat-head rivets.

    IMPORTANT Only use the rivets from the parts kit.

    NOTES Steel rivets must not be used because the bodywork is made of aluminum.

  8. Seal rivet heads inside the rain trough with body sealant.

  9. Pull out control cable (1c) as far as possible, insert into the recess (see arrow) in the release lever (A63) and press all the way down.
  10. Place 3-pin connector from release switch connecting cable (1b) in left-hand chamber on end face of release lever (A63).

  11. Install left quarter panel in trunk.
  12. Pass control cable (1c) and release switch connecting cable (1b) through the opening behind the quarter panel and fasten to existing cables.

    IMPORTANT Ensure that the control cable (1c) and the release switch connecting cable (1b) are routed around the left tail lamp.

  13. Fasten release lever (A63) to retaining plate with three bolts.

    IMPORTANT The transport lock on the swiveling ball neck can now be removed.
