Digitized and non digitized DVD map areas

Navigation is the generation and output of driving recommendations, in order to guide the driver to the desired destination. Prerequisites for this are:
- Continuous position finding is in operation (accomplished automatically),
- Driver entered the destination
- Route calculation takes place.
In vehicles as of 1.9.03, the navigation processor (N41/1) is installed as a separate control unit on the left-hand side of the trunk.
The navigation processor continuously compares the route calculation data with the continuous position finding data and derives from this measures for further navigation. Depending on the position of the vehicle, a distinction can be made between two navigation modes (see Figure):
- Destination within digitized

- Restricted navigation outside the digitized DVD map area
