MEASURING Measuring, adjusting     
IMPORTANT On vehicles without code (487) Active Body Control (ABC) the chassis alignment must not be carried out with an engine which has been driven until it is hot, as the air suspension struts heated up by engine heat can influence the vehicle level    
1 Drive vehicle onto test site and secure by applying parking brake IMPORTANT The measuring system must be approved by Mercedes-Benz.  
2 Carry out conditions and tests for chassis alignment   AR40.20-P-0260SX 
3 Raise and lower the vehicle level again; to do this, operate the switch on the center console IMPORTANT Raising and lowering the vehicle reduces play in the suspension.  
4.1 Deactivate easy entry/exit feature Vehicles with memory package (driver's seat, steering column, mirrors) code 275
NOTES Otherwise the driver seat and steering wheel move into a different position if the driver door is opened or closed for example. The driver seat can be damaged when the brake pedal jack is installed SPECIAL TOOL .
IMPORTANT The system is switched off via the buttons on the steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu of the multifunction display.
 
5 Using the adapter, install the brake pedal retaining tool between the pedal and the driver seat NOTES Protect the brake pedal and driver seat otherwise the brake pedal or driver seat may be damaged.

6 Move selector lever to position "P"    
7 Open window on driver door and close driver door IMPORTANT Preparations for checking steering lock. The vehicle must not be loaded again.  
8 Switch off ignition    
9 Attaching Mercedes-Benz quick-clamping devices   AR40.20-P-0230I 
10 Fit on measuring heads    
11 Unlock turnplates and sliding platforms    
12 Check vehicle level at front and rear axle with electronic inclinometer, adjust if necessary IMPORTANT Depending on the measurement result the vehicle level must be adjusted at the front and rear axle. AR40.20-P-0301I 
13 Perform initial measurement    
14.1 Checking rear axle camber According to results of initial measurement.
IMPORTANT The camber on the rear axle is not adjustable.

15.1 Adjust rear-axle toe According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0261I 
16.1 Adjust camber and caster at the front axle According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0263I 
17.1 Adjust front axle toe According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0264I 
18 Perform final measurement    
19 Detach measuring heads    
20 Detach Mercedes-Benz quick-clamping devices   AR40.20-P-0230I 
21 Remove brake pedal jack tool with its adapter SPECIAL TOOL Fig 1

22 Drive vehicle off measuring system    
23 Lock turntables and sliding platforms
