REMOVING Removing    
DANGER Lethal injuries  are possible if vehicle slips off lifting platform Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
IMPORTANT Comply with information on tires / disk wheels   AH40.10-P-9411-01A 
1 Raise vehicle   AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
2 Unscrew wheel bolts, remove wheels    
3 Check the condition of the lug bolts NOTES The round contact shoulders on the lug bolts must be free of oil and grease.
Replace bolts that have a damaged thread, worn dacromet coating at radius seat or corroded radius seat.
 
4 Check tires for damage and wear - measure depth of tread   AP40.10-P-4051Z 
5 Check disk wheels
  • for dirt and contamination,
  • to ensure that radius seats are free of oil and grease,
  • for damage that could prevent the radius seat from centering, damage to radius seats and bead-seat flanges,
  • corrosion on contact surfaces
 
6 Check wheel hub, wheel bolt thread and brake disk bowl on wheel contact surface for dirt and corrosion IMPORTANT Clean corroded surfaces with a wire brush or emery cloth.
NOTES Dirty or corroded wheel bolt threads must be cleaned or recut. Any dirt or corrosion left in the thread prevents the wheel bolt from reaching the necessary preload force, despite the nominal torque having been reached. If the wheel bolt threads are damaged, the wheel hub must be replaced.
 
INSTALLING Install    
7 Change wheels around if necessary retaining the same running direction NOTES This does not apply to vehicles with different tires of varying specifications on the front and rear wheels.
IMPORTANT Between
5 000 and 10 000 km.
 
8 Fit wheels, tighten wheel bolts NOTES Observe tightening sequence "1-5".

9 Lower vehicle, correct tire inflation pressure (including spare tire) NOTES In the case of loss of tire pressure, determine cause and replace tire if necessary.
IMPORTANT On versions with spare tire attached to underside of vehicle, check tire inflation pressure of spare tire before lowering the vehicle.
 
REFER TO GENERAL INFORMATION   IMPORTANT Deletion of spare tire with model 163.174 with TIREFIT AH40.10-P-0001-01A
