Fault code description - ME-SFI - gear implausible or transmission with leaks - AD07.61-P-4000-27A

1 Fault code P0700
2 Fault storage after the end of the test period and faults
Activation of malfunction indicator lamp for engine diagnosis (EURO3/4)
or CHECK ENGINE (MIL) USA ONLY
after two successive driving cycles with faults
3 Frequency of the test continuous
4 Checked signal or status Calculated gear ratios outside tolerance
5 Fault setting conditions  -0.20 to 0.20 1st/2nd gear
Permissible deviation from respective -0.05 to 0.05 3rd gear
gear ratio -0.03 to 0.03 4th/5th gear
Test duration -0.20 to 0.20 Reverse gear
  approx. 2 s
6 Test prerequisites
  • engine speed greater than 400 rpm
  • output shaft rotational speed greater than 180 rpm (corresponds to approx. 20 km/h)
  • no shift operation
7 Test sequence If no shift operation is being performed, the ETC control module detects the engaged gear from the gear ratio. If the gear ratio is outside the tolerance or the gear detection is implausible, the modulating pressure is adjusted to its highest value after approx. 0.5 s. If the gear ratio remains outside the tolerance or the gear detection remains implausible, fault identification takes place after approx. 1 s.
8 IMPORTANT The gear ratios are calculated from the following variables: speed signal n2, speed signal n3 and output shaft rotational speed (determined via rear wheel speed).
Faults are detected by the ETC control module and sent via the CAN data bus to the ME-SFI control module. The faults are stored and the malfunction indicator lamp is activated by the ME-SFI control module.
