Determining circuit with increased quiescent current consumption - AR54.10-P-1030-04AB

AR54.10-P-1030-04AB  Determining circuit with increased quiescent current consumption Specification ≤ 0.02 A (20 mA): ↓  
    Determine fused components with increased quiescent current consumption. AR54.10-P-1030-05AB 
    Check quiescent current again to confirm. Specified value ≥ 0.05 A (50 mA) or 0.085 A: ↓ AR54.10-P-1030-03AB 
    Determine unfused components with increased quiescent current consumption. AR54.10-P-1030-06AB 
    Once again test quiescent current as a check. AR54.10-P-1030-03AB

  1. Check trunk or cargo space illumination, replace defective parts, if applicable.

    IMPORTANT

    Unclip trunk lamp, disconnect insulated cable terminal and measure power consumption with multimeter (amps DC mode). After testing observe shut-off delay of approx. 4 min.

    Total quiescent current ≥ 0.05 A or ≥ 0.085 A  (vehicles with immobilizer) reached, end of test.

    Specified total quiescent current  exceeded: ↓

  2. Open fuse box F1, F4 (Model 202, 208, 210) and cover on light module (N7-1) (model 208, 210).
  3. On vehicles with ATA lock engine hood lock with screwdriver.
  4. Lock vehicle.
  5. Open cover on overvoltage protector.

    IMPORTANT

    Observe information UPDATE!

    First check component circuits listed in information update.

  6. Remove fuse for component affected.

    IMPORTANT

    Remove fuse for ATA only with vehicle unlocked (alarm signal).

  7. 7 Connect test cable (6) and test adapter (13) to second multimeter (12) (amps DC mode).
  8. Remove first fuse, connect second multimeter in its place and read off quiescent current after 5 sec.

    Quiescent current ≥ 0.02A (20 mA): 

    Fused circuit okay.

  9. 9 Reinstall fuse, wait 5 seconds.

    Then measure quiescent current consumption on all fuses according to test step  8.

IMPORTANT After installing the fuse or test adapter the connected components may have an increased quiescent current for a short time, for the radio this may be as high as 0.240 A (240 mA). The increased quiescent current consumption can be eliminated by switching the radio on and back off.

IMPORTANT

IMPORTANT On vehicles with auto-pilot system (APS) the quiescent current increases to approx. 800 mA while the processor is booting (approx. 30 minutes) after inserting the APS processor fuse.

Quiescent current > 0.02 A (20 mA): 

Wait 4 minutes then read again.

The fused circuit is defective: ↓

Determine fused components with increased quiescent current consumption.

If rated quiescent current value  is still not  reached: ↓

Check unfused components with increased quiescent current consumption.
